Ginger Cold Blaster Recipe

I used to visit this hole in the wall coffee shop in my hometown some years ago. Despite their size they made everything by scratch, (including the best chai tea I’ve ever had,) but they had something called a Ginger Cold Blaster. It was an awesome mixture they concocted, and used to make big barrels of, selling it by the shot. Anytime I felt the cold and flu season knocking I would head down for a couple shots. But that was a long time ago, I’ve since moved and they have since closed. Although I never got the recipe I do have a pretty good memory so here is my version of the Ginger Cold Blaster. It’s great for preventive care and also helps knock it out if you’ve already got a bug. Stay healthy this cold season and enjoy!

Ginger Cold Blaster

3 small lemons, peeled

¼ cayenne pepper

2 ½ Tablespoons honey

½ cup Water

1 inch piece fresh Ginger

Directions: Juice lemons and ginger and pour into glass. Whisk in honey, water, and cayenne pepper. Pour into shot glass for single serving and refrigerate remaining contents for later use.

Note: You can make this one of two ways. If you have a juicer you can juice your ingredients and mix them with the whisk as it states above. If you don’t have a juicer you can go ahead and peel and finely chop the ginger and lemons, making sure to remove all the seeds, and then put it through a fine strainer.
